Bike to Work Week (May): Bike to Work Week was May 17-21, 2010. This exciting and fun event promotes cycling as a form of transportation to the workplace. It celebrates those who bicycle commute throughout the year, and supports an environmentally friendly transportation option and promotes clean air. Rideshare Week (October): celebrate Rideshare Week October 4th - 10th, 2010 by carpooling, vanpooling, taking the bus, train, walking, bicycling or telecommuting. Last year Commute Connection in conjunction with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District had drawings and gave away $2,000 worth of gift cards. Spare the Air (Seasonal): this effort is aimed at reducing air pollution in the San Joaquin Valley. When notified, residents are asked to reduce or avoid activities that cause air pollution for the following 24 hours.
