public transportation is a great way to get to work. Not only do you
get to sit back, relax, and let someone else do the driving, but you
save money and help greatly reduce air pollution and traffic
congestion!
San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Merced Counties have a number of transit agencies offering everything from intercity fixed route service to commuter busses and trains to dial-a-ride and paratransit. The agencies listed below are the major transit providers in the area. Click on a provider name to obtain additional information about the services they provide.
The Altamont Commuter Express (ACE) is a commuter train that runs between Stockton and San Jose with stations in Stockton, Lathrop-Manteca, Tracy and various stops in the Bay Area.
Amtrak is a train that runs through the San Joaquin Valley and throughout the United States.
The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has trains running from Dublin-Pleasanton to various Bay Area locations. You can drive, carpool or vanpool, or take SJRTD or MAX commuter busses to BART.
San Joaquin Regional Transit District (SJRTD) operates 17 Commuter Routes to San Jose, Dublin/BART, Livermore, Mountain View, Palo Alto, and Sacramento. For additional information click HERE.
The Tracy Tracer provides fixed route, paratransit, and Dial-A-Ride services to the City of Tracy.
The Lodi Grapeline serves the City of Lodi.
Rio Vista Delta Breeze serves through Flag City and Terminous.
Galt South County Transit serves Lodi and Isleton.
Manteca Transit offers two routes serving the Manteca Area.
ETrans provides The City of Escalon a door-to-door Dial-A-Ride service which operates within the City of Escalon and the surrounding unincorporated county areas.
The City of Ripon offers a transit bus service to the general public, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens. The bus runs every Thursday unless special trips are arranged.
Modesto Area Express offers commuter services to ACE, Amtrak, and BART as well as fixed route service throughout the Modesto urban area. Dial-A-Ride is also available through MAX.
Stanislaus Regional Transit serves Stanislaus County with Fixed Route, Dial-A-Ride and Runabouts. Non-emergency transportation to Bay Area Medical Facilities is also available.
Bus Line Service of Turlock provides transit service to the City of Turlock and the surrounding unincorporated area. Dial-A-Ride is also available.
Ceres Area Transit is a fixed route bus service that serves Ceres and the surrounding unincorporated area. Dial-A-Ride is also available.
Riverbank/Oakdale Transit Authority Trolley (ROTA) connects Riverbank and Oakdale. Dial-A-Ride is also available.
BLAST Transit provides four fixed routes. Blast provides a fast, safe, and economical way to travel around Turlock.
THE BUS public transportation for the County of Merced connecting cities with Commuter Express, Merced Shuttle and Intercity Express.
YARTS public transportation to Yosemite from Merced on Hwy 140 and Hwy 120 and Interstate 395 to Mammoth Lake.
Amador Regional Transit System (ARTS) connects Sutter Hill & Ione, Jackson & Mace Meadow, Jackson & Plymouth, Jackson & Sutter Creek Shuttle and Amador & Sacramento.
